M. L. Brown was that girl who slept with her feet on her pillow, à la Pippilotta Longstocking and actually attempted to eat sautéed fried worms (an acquired taste.) Better known as Mimi to friends and family, she also directs community and children’s theater. When she’s not on stage or spinning stories, you might find her at the skating rink, drawing, or playing games with her game-obsessed crew. In a pinch, she also acts as apprentice puppet builder to her husband, affectionately known as Bobpetto.

M. L. Brown has been honored twice with
Highlights for Children’s Editor’s Choice awards for her humorous short stories, and is a Highlights Fiction Contest winner. She’s also a Jackie White Memorial Playwriting Contest finalist as well as a Kansas Voices winner. Some of her other publications include Chess Life for Kids, Story Something, Hisstories, BRIO, Relatemag.com, Stories for Children, Characters, Take 5 +Teen Devotional staff writer.

Start writing, no matter what. The water does not flow until the faucet is turned on.

More often than not, my reference point is not the kids or the grandkids but myself when I was that age. I remember the days at Hartranft Elementary and Stewart Junior High in Norristown.
